My Life Remembered's 8mm and Super 8mm conversion process is multi part.

  • All films are cleaned with a lint free, glass cloth.

  • Image is illuminated via projectors that have been modified and customized by in house technicians.

    • The film gate has been enlarged. (Enlarging the gate exposes the entire frame thereby exposing more of the image for capture).

    • Reduced projection lamp.  (Reducing the projection lamp, to a maximum of 10 watts, reduces the heat and the heat related damage associated therewith).

    • Illumination lamp and sprocket motor are wired into separate power supplies thereby allowing for adjustment of sprocket speed without affecting the illumination lamp.

    • Audio cables have been custom designed for receiver to speaker reception.  Video and audio is transferred simultaneously thereby assuring original synchronization.

  • Image is projected into a professionally designed transfer unit equipped with a premium, optically correct, first surface mirror for rectification of the image and a condenser lens for image magnification; thereby providing a crisp, clean image for the camera to capture.  Furthermore, while not required , all projections takes place in a darkened projection room because controlling the amount of light associated with the conversion is of the utmost importance.

  • Image is captured via a high end, broadcast quality, variable speed, digital camera equipped with a 3CCD system to provide quality transfers.  CCD is the abbreviation for "charge-couple-device", and is often referred to as a "chip." The chip converts visible light into an electronic signal, which the camcorder reads. Professional camcorders, almost without exception, have three CCDs, one for each primary color. The colors on professional three-CCD camcorders are much brighter, vivid, lifelike, and accurate than the colors of one-CCD camcorders. A three-CCD camcorder almost always beats out a one-CCD camcorder, and the difference in quality both in normal and low-light shooting is noticeable.

  • Digital data is transferred onto the hard drive of high speed computers or the hard drive of a video capturing device.  Once data is on either of the hard drives then software allows for appropriate editing.
